MANUEL DE TERESA
MANUEL DE TERESA

I was conceived the night of 25th July, in 1960. My mother loved candies and my father always bought her caramel-coated almonds. My father liked the ”Zurra”, a Spanish white sweetened wine, one of those that go up to the head. That night it’s the Saint James (Santiago) holiday, and he must have been kind of tipsy in my hometown. With the joy of the “Zurra” and work in the field completed, both culminated this big night. A night of banging and wine. I am therefore a child of lust on great summer night. Maybe that’s why I photograph to portray the desire in each other’s eyes, the impossible pursuit of my soulmate. The pictures of transvestite men that I am presenting started in the 19th of March, 2006; at my home in the neighbourhood of Lavapiés (Madrid).

I love to fantasize about the idea of desire. I was not desired as part of my generation but I am a child of desire and passion. And this pleases me greatly.
